Weary Angel

June 10, 2009

Allow me to push someone else’s music on you for a moment.

They’re the perfect example of what music has the potential to be when you know where you came from but you’re not afraid of where you have the potential to go.

This ain’t your granddaddy’s bluegrass.

I’ve got both of their studio albums and they’re both incredible, but they just released this $5 EP, Weary Angel, which I would have to love anyway because it happened much the same way my Ten Days project did.

It just did.

Theirs sounds a little better than mine, though, I have to concede.

The sound is risky for bluegrass and there are a few cover tunes you’ll probably recognize but would never expect (songs they do at their live shows, if only I knew from experience…) and it’s just worth a listen.  It really really is.  Bluegrass fan or not, go over there and give it a shot.

In other news, I’ve got friends on the road at this very moment coming from Minnesota for Bonnaroo.  Tonight should get interesting…
