Close as you’re gonna get…

August 6, 2009

It almost never starts with a handshake.  There’s no “Hello, my name is Courtney.”  There’s no “Nice to meet you!”

There is a hug.
There is a “So how was your day?”

It’s like you already know each other.

Not well.  There’s talk of hometowns and family members and jobs and dreams and plenty of other “get to know you” material, but it’s never awkward.  Or uncomfortable. And it’s mostly pretty exciting.

A week ago I got to revisit this feeling with a few lovely ladies I’d already once met in person.

The goal was to get as many Nashvillians together as possible to hang out and eat half price cheesecake (although we were unaware of the National Cheesecake Day thing when we made the plans, it certainly worked out in our favor).  Turns out, as many as possible was merely three of us, which was disappointing only because at least six others wanted to come but couldn’t make it work.  Six!  We’ll try again guys, and soon.  Promise.  At any rate, these two ladies (that’s Katie and Courtney on the left and in the middle.  Yes! Another Courtney!) were fantastic company, as expected, and I can’t wait to see them again.

And last night?  Last night I got to do it all again, with somebody new.

And there was a hug, and there was a “so how was your day?”

And there was coffee and conversation and silliness and definite implications that we would be sharing coffee and conversation and silliness again.

Hopefully soon.

No picture, though.  Sorry.

haha. this is going to be hilarious. are you ready?

the thing i first notice when looking at the picture: HOLY CRAP LOOK AT COURTNEY’S RACK!!!!!

    i hope you’re laughing, because i am. and i hope you don’t mind me pointing that out to… like… everyone. :) i’m a little strange, i know.

and other thing i thought while looking at that picture. for some reason, and i can’t put my finger on it, that just doesn’t look like a group of girls that would normally hang out together. or am i the only one that thinks that? yet another reason why i love blogging.
